Filiz is an Emergency Medicine resident physician at New York Medical College in New York City, with over ten years of regional and international experience in clinical and research fields. Passionate about community giving and women's health, she excels in crafting and implementing strategies for unprecedented outcomes.

Her path to medicine runs through nursing and public policy: she holds a degree in Family Practice Nursing from the University of Toronto, focusing on global health and women's health, and a Master's degree in Public Policy, for which she was honoured with the prestigious 2016 MPP Fellowship Award. She has contributed to academia as a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, teaching graduate-level courses on the Social Context of Policy Making, and served as a Public Policy Researcher at the Ontario Ministry of Health, contributing to the development of regulatory policies for healthcare professionals.

As the Founder of Refugee Girls Worldwide, Filiz leads a team of executives, crafting strategies and ensuring operational efficiency. Her successful fundraising efforts drive programs that advance the health and education of displaced women and girls globally.
