Post-Quake Moroccan Village Community Centre

In response to the devastating 2023 earthquake in Morocco, RGW is constructing a multipurpose community centre in the Marrakech-Safi region. The centre will provide a safe space for community activities and education.

In Oukaimeden, deeply impacted by the severe earthquake, RGW is building a modular community centre to help the local population recover. This community, largely dependent on cattle farming, faced significant economic challenges and a shortage of communal spaces even before the disaster. The new centre will be a crucial step in rebuilding and empowering the village.

With most homes destroyed, Oukaiemeden residents have been forced to live in makeshift tents on rugged terrain. While the Moroccan government assists with home reconstruction, RGW is focused on creating a durable, accessible community hub using innovative materials.

The multipurpose community centre will feature:

  • Studio (36㎡): A multifunctional space for events and gatherings.

  • Kitchens (15㎡ each): Separate facilities for men and women.

  • Toilets & Showers (20㎡): Essential amenities for each gender.

  • Prayer Room and Library (40㎡): A tranquil environment with a high ceiling designed to enhance the spiritual and educational experience.

  • Rooftop Terrace: A flexible area for community interaction, prayer, or study.

By providing a versatile space that facilitates education, community gatherings, and spiritual growth, this project not only addresses immediate needs but also promotes sustainable development, embodying RGW's commitment to empowering communities in crisis.
