RGW Women’s Shelter, Chicago, USA: A dedicated space where women facing violence or homelessness find safety and a new beginning, mirroring the comforts of a true home.
RGW has established a sanctuary in Chicago specifically tailored for women overcoming domestic and other forms of violence or homelessness. This intimate home accommodates up to 10 women at a time, ensuring a private and secure environment that fosters recovery and self-reliance.
Strategically located near essential amenities such as schools, public transport, and shopping centres, our home offers residents convenient access to everything they need. It features shared living spaces for community building, private areas for solitude, children’s playrooms, and on-site laundry facilities.
Our residents benefit from dedicated staff and a 24/7 security system, ensuring their safety and peace of mind. Women may stay as long as they need, typically between three to four months, while working closely with caseworkers to prepare for independent living.
RGW fully funds the operation of this home, covering all expenses, including utilities, monthly food supplies, and essentials required to maintain the facility and support the women in need.
For this vital initiative, RGW has partnered with Sakeenah Homes—a notable NGO specializing in managing women’s shelters. This collaboration, supported by local organizations and authorities, utilizes a verified referral system to identify and assist women in dire need.
The initiative was launched in response to a 21% annual increase in calls from Chicago women seeking help. Your support is crucial now more than ever to meet this growing need.
