Yeliz Ozmisir
Director, Board

Yeliz's passion for community engagement was ignited early in Turkiye, inspired by her mother, a devoted midwife-nurse aiding rural women, and by her father's work in bringing electricity to remote areas. This early inspiration parallels her multifaceted professional journey across academia, law, and international business.

During her tenure as a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen’s School of Law, Yeliz designed speciality courses, leveraging her education from the Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway Program at the University of Alberta and her Bachelor of Laws with first-class honours from the University of Buckingham, where she won the Routledge Cavendish Publishing Prize.

In international business, Yeliz's expertise is affirmed by her completion of the FITTskills Program, endorsed by the World Trade Centers Association and the Canadian government, and a Post-Graduate Co-op Certificate in International Business from Sheridan College, Canada, graduating with high honours. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Istanbul University, Turkiye, where she graduated with distinction.

Before pivoting to her legal career, Yeliz excelled as an entrepreneur in brand design and content creation, working across various industries such as law, architecture, cinema, and the nonprofit sector. Her former role as an International Marketing Manager at a global architectural acoustic design firm showcases her diverse professional experiences.

Beyond her career, Yeliz is deeply committed to societal contributions. She has volunteered for RGW and several other nonprofits, organized community events for federal election campaigns in Canada, and led Istanbul University's Classical Music Choir as concert coordinator and manager for several years.

Yeliz's dedication to empowering refugee girls and her active community engagement highlight her leadership in effecting meaningful change.
