Dr. Jabeen Fayyaz

Dr. Jabeen Fayyaz is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physician at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, Canada. She holds an MBBS, FCPS (Pediatrics), MCPS (Health Professions Education), DCH, CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator), MHPE (Master of Health Professions Education), and a Ph.D. in Simulation from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, Boston. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the SimKIDS Simulation Program and the Teaching Scholars Program at the SickKids Learning Institute. She also co-directs the PEM International Clinical Fellowship at SickKids, mentoring fellows in clinical practice, simulation-based education, and academic scholarship.

With over 15 years of global experience spanning Pakistan, Oman, and Canada, Dr. Fayyaz has distinguished herself as a simulation leader, educator, and researcher. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in simulation-based curriculum design, faculty development, and interprofessional team training. Her work is rooted in the development and implementation of simulation based interventions across the continuum of learning—from undergraduate medical education to postgraduate training and continuing professional development (CPD).

Her research focuses on simulation-based translational science, team dynamics during resuscitation, system and process testing, quality improvement, and the use of medical resuscitation video review (MRVR) for reflective learning and system-level change. She also holds several key leadership roles in international simulation organizations, such as being the President-Elect of the International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS).

Her academic leadership and mentorship extend to organizing simulation workshops, conferences, and collaborative training programs across multiple continents. Dr. Fayyaz is a frequent invited speaker, panelist, and workshop facilitator at prestigious international forums such as IPSSW, ICEM, and AAP. Her work is grounded in a core philosophy of innovation, equity, learner-centeredness, and system transformation using simulation not just as a teaching tool, but as a strategic instrument for improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes globally.
