Palestine Urgent Relief

RGW has remained steadfast in its support for Palestinians both before and after October 7th, 2023. Below is a detailed chronology of our humanitarian efforts in the region:

2021 — 2023 | Food Security & Dignity Kits:

Over 5,000 Palestinians benefited from our food distribution initiatives, which included baskets filled with instant ready-to-eat food and hot meals for families sheltering in UNRWA schools. We launched the RGW Dignity Kits initiative, regularly distributing essential hygiene items to women and girls living in poverty — Click here to learn more about the RGW Dignity Kits Program in Palestine.

Post-October 7th, 2023 — Urgent Relief:

In response to urgent needs, we provided relief to approximately 6,700 people in Gaza during a humanitarian pause. This effort included delivering emergency food, water, and essentials to around 3,200 individuals in UNRWA shelters and serving hot meals to about 3,500 people at various locations across Gaza, including Al Aqsa Hospital, Deir al-Balah Services Club, Deir al-Balah Refugee School, and Jabalia.

Additionally, we distributed 1,000 blankets and continued our Dignity Kits program, ensuring ongoing health and hygiene support for vulnerable women and girls under extremely challenging conditions, particularly in the wake of displacement with minimal to no water access.

On the healthcare front, RGW delivered medical aid supplies to four healthcare centres in Gaza: Al-Shifa, Kamal Awan Hospital, Indonesian Hospital, and Al-Awda Hospital. Our supplies included gloves, gauze, saline, scalpels, bandages, suture kits, and hundreds of other urgently needed medical items.

January 2024 — Primary Healthcare Centre:

In partnership with two other NGOs, we opened a primary healthcare centre in Rafah. In the first month of its opening, the clinic treated over 22,500 patients, including many children with severe burns, pregnant patients, and those with acute respiratory issues primarily caused by overcrowding and poor living conditions. Our healthcare centre continues to treat around 500 patients daily and will operate as long as it is not impacted by bombings.

April 2024 — Ramadan:

We established four kitchens in the Gaza Strip: one in Gaza City, two in Deir El Balah, and one in Rafah. These kitchens served approximately 13,000 to 14,000 people daily with freshly cooked iftar meals that included rice, meat, lentil soup, and traditional dishes such as mulukhiyah, mujaddara, and okra. We also distributed suhoor packs and food packs sufficient for two weeks for families of seven, along with vegetable packs for non-fasting individuals, including the elderly and those with special needs.

March 2024 — Food & Medical Aid Trucks:

To provide larger-scale humanitarian aid to Gaza, we deepened our collaboration with another trusted NGO and secured access to Gaza through government-affiliated Jordanian cooperation. Our founders personally oversaw the clearance and successful loading of four trucks, each carrying 20 tonnes of vital humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medical supplies. These trucks, as part of a broader effort that included airdrops and exclusive border crossings, successfully reached Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing after extensive coordination with multiple authorities. This direct involvement was crucial in delivering essential resources to innocent civilians, half of whom are children, on the brink of famine.

Since May 2024 — Airdrops Only:

We have been struggling greatly to send humanitarian aid as all the border crossings are now closed. Despite significant challenges, we continue to participate in airdrop aid efforts through Jordan. Our commitment to providing continuous support remains strong amid these unprecedented circumstances.

These efforts highlight RGW’s commitment to making a tangible difference in times of dire need. Our dedication to meeting both immediate and long-term needs in Palestine is relentless, and none of this would be possible without the generous support of our institutional partners and donors.

RGW is committed to helping nearly one million displaced women and girls in Gaza.
